Who we are
Well Driller Finder is a directory of water well drilling contractors across the United States and Canada, published at welldrillerfinder.com. It is free for homeowners to search and use. We are a publisher, not a drilling company, and we do not carry out or arrange drilling work ourselves.
Information you give us
Quote requests. When you ask for quotes through a listing or one of our forms, we store the name, email address and phone number you enter, along with the details of the job you describe — property, type of work, timeframe and your message. We also record which page you sent it from and your IP address, which we use to stop automated abuse of the forms.
That request is then sent to the contractors you selected, so they can reply to you directly. That is the entire purpose of the form. We do not sell enquiries, and we do not pass them to a wider network of bidders.
Contractors. If you claim or advertise a listing, we store the account and business details you provide. Payments are handled by our invoicing system through Square; card details are entered with Square and we never see or store them.
Information collected automatically
Google Analytics records page views and general usage so we can see which pages are useful. Microsoft Clarity records how pages are used — including mouse movement, clicks and scrolling — and can replay anonymised sessions. It is a diagnostic tool for finding broken layouts and confusing pages; Clarity masks text input by default, but you should assume your general behaviour on a page is recorded.
Cloudflare serves and protects the site, and Cloudflare Turnstile checks that form submissions come from a person rather than a bot. Both see your IP address as part of delivering the page. We also load fonts and icons from Google Fonts and Font Awesome, which means those services see a request from your browser.
Location search
When you search for drillers near a place, the words you type are sent from your browser to OpenStreetMap's Nominatim service, which turns them into map coordinates so we can list the contractors closest to you. That request goes directly from your device to OpenStreetMap and includes your IP address; we do not make it on your behalf and we do not keep a separate record of it.
The place you searched for also appears in the web address of the results page. Our website analytics records page addresses, so a search you run is visible there alongside ordinary page views.

Cookies
The site sets cookies to keep you logged in if you have an account, and the analytics and security services above set their own. If you leave a comment you may be offered the option to save your name and email in a cookie so you do not have to retype them. You can block or delete cookies in your browser; the site will still work, though logged-in features will not.
Who we share information with
The contractors you choose when you request a quote — that is the point of the request. Our hosting, analytics, security and payment providers, as described above, in the course of running the site. We do not sell personal information.
How long we keep it
Quote requests are kept in the site's database so we can answer questions about an enquiry and investigate abuse. Account and billing records are kept while the account is active and afterwards where we are required to keep them. Analytics data is retained according to each provider's own policy. If you want your details removed, contact us and say so — see below.
Your choices
You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. If you have an account you can also request an export. Depending on where you live you may have further rights under local law. Write to us using the contact page and tell us what you want done.
Comments
If you leave a comment on an article we store the comment, the name and email you give, and your IP address, so we can moderate spam. Comments are rarely used on this site.
